Seemab Gul
Filmmaker

Seemab Gul is a British-Pakistani filmmaker with a BA in Fine Art and an MA in Filmmaking from the London Film School. Her work is interdisciplinary, immersed in the current political dialogue, and focuses on the outsider experience. Her portfolio includes documentaries, drama, hybrid films and art installations. She has produced over ten short films and directed half of them. 

SANDSTORM is Seemab's latest short fiction film, premiering at the Venice Film Festival and at Sundance 2022. It screened at over 70 international film festivals and won 16 awards. SANDSTORM is BIFA-nominated for Best British Short 2022 and won two Oscar-qualifying awards. Her documentary ZAHIDA, was broadcast on Al Jazeera TV channel and its trailer has over 20 million views. Her work has been supported by Channel 4, CBA WorldView, Al Jazeera and Arts Council England. Seemab is alumna of the Locarno Open Doors Producers Lab 2018, Berlinale Talents 2019 and Venice Biennale College Cinema 2021. Seemab attended La Fabrique Cinema in Cannes with her feature project HAVEN OF HOPE. Seemab is represented by PeachHouse.
